Hey all you 20 somethings, here’s a typical Fat and Sloppy story:\u00a0 Talk to most middle aged\u00a0guys and they’ll tell you\u00a0a variation of what I’m telling you now.\u00a0 Being an American means you have the\u00a0right to eat whatever you want whenever you want.\u00a0 I cherish and often abuse that right.\u00a0 When I was young, I could eat anything.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But being middle aged, I still eat everything, but\u00a0eating poorly\u00a0and rarely exercising\u00a0is now beginning to take it’s toll on me.\u00a0\u00a0One result of being out of shape is that\u00a0heartburn is\u00a0my constant\u00a0companion.<\/p>\n
Instead of changing my eating habits, I prefer to soothe my heartburn with a pill.\u00a0 Of all the chewable remedies I have\u00a0used for heart burn, only\u00a0Pepsid has worked and it tastes great.\u00a0 My favorite is the berry blend chewable tablet.\u00a0 I hate the\u00a0mint flavor tablets\u00a0because\u00a0they\u00a0taste like tooth paste. When I feel the burn, I\u00a0slide a few berry flavored pills into my mouth.\u00a0 I happily\u00a0wait as\u00a0those flavored wafers silently dissolve in my mouth.\u00a0 I don’t swallow anything\u00a0\u00a0until\u00a0they\u00a0have completely dissolved.\u00a0 Then, with my mouth loaded with\u00a0its\u00a0saliva\/spit\/Pepcid mixture, I\u00a0swallow\u00a0the\u00a0savory broth.\u00a0 Yum.<\/p>\n
It\u00a0quickly and gently coats my esophagus and stops the heart burn.\u00a0\u00a0 Another tasty fat and sloppy experience I look forward to on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
Then something mysterious happened, about four months ago,\u00a0Pepcid vanished from stores.\u00a0 Costco didn’t have it, my grocery store didn’t have it, and pharmacies didn’t have them.\u00a0 \u00a0No one\u00a0would say\u00a0what happened, or would admit to me where the Pepcid had disappeared to.<\/p>\n
I pursued the mystery by\u00a0checking the Internet, blogs, discussion boards and\u00a0I asked doctors.\u00a0 Stupidly, I didn’t think to check the Pepcid website which would have been the first logical place to look.\u00a0 That might have\u00a0helped me.\u00a0\u00a0Nothing came up though; not a peep about what happened to Pepsid.\u00a0\u00a0 It felt like a good friend had suddenly disappeared and no one but me was looking for him.<\/p>\n
Happily, about a month ago,\u00a0Pepcid\u00a0finally reappeared in stores.\u00a0According to the Pepcid web site, it came back on March 11, 2011.\u00a0 It tastes the same, but its not the powerful, soothing friend I used to know.\u00a0\u00a0This Pepcid is weaker.\u00a0 I can tell\u00a0because it now takes more wafers and saliva\u00a0to\u00a0soothe my heart burn.<\/p>\n
I don’t know why it disappeared in the first place, or why Pepcid corporate weakened the wafers, but I do know one thing; no one is talking about this mystery.\u00a0\u00a0 And I can’t find anything about it on the Internet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
